Convert a standard NES controller into an SSD with a USB cable attached.
Project Cost Factors
Acqusition of an NES Controller (eBay)
Size. To ensure room for a cable attachment, we'll need a smaller SSD and converter board than a standard 2280.
Risks
I'm unsure the kit will not be too tall to fit inside of the controller body
I'm not certain that a 2230 kit won't be too wide to fit inside of the controller body. A standard 2280 will fit, though I'm unsure if it plus a cable plugged into its end will. NVMe M.2 2230s are much smaller lengthwise, but they're wider than the 2280.
Status: Paused
Controllers have been purchased; one has been taken apart. I anticipate most of the structures inside will have to be removed.
The 2230 USB converter is the only way this will work, but I need one with either a USB-A or USB-C, but not both (one on either end). This configuration makes the converter too long to fit within the controller.
